How long will it take to receive my floorcloth?

Since all our floorcloths are hand made, delivery is usually within six – eight weeks.

What are the materials used in making a floorcloth?

We use sailcloth which we have made specially for us and therefore our floorcloths are more durable.  We use oil paints and eight coats of varnish.

How do I care for my floorcloth?

Our floorcloths are very durable and are intended to walk on.  Floorcloths are the very first flooring in America.  You can clean the floorcloth like you would your hardwood floor, either sweep or vaccum and then you can damp mop the floorcloth.  You can use any kind of non-abrasive detergent such as Mr. Clean or Spic and Span.

How many coats of varnish are applied to the floorcloth?

We apply eight coats of varnish and therefore our floorcloths have more finishes than a hard wood floor.

Are your floorcloths pet and children friendly?

Yes, they are very pet and children friendly.  If your pet or child has an accident, simply clean the area with soap and water and you are done.  Unlike rugs, they can take almost unforseen accident and simply wipe away the problem.  Rugs unfortunately are not as forgiving and require additional care.

Can I really walk on the floorcloth? Yes, yes, yes!!!  Floorcloths were originally made in the 18th century.  They took the sails of their ships to provide cover for their hard wood floor.  In those times, a hard wood floor was a luxury and therefore they protected their floor with a floorcloth.  We reproduce our floorcloths in the same manner as it would have been done back in the 18th century . . . AND all the images you see are actual photos of our floorcloths and not digitally created.

Can I custom order a floorcloth  in any size and color? Yes, we can design your floorcloth with any colors of your choice.  If you have specific colors you have used in your home and would like to coordinate the colors to the floorcloth, we can certainly do this for you at no extra cost.
