We have been busy with research . . .  having the luxury of being located in a historic area such as Colonial Williamsburg, we have done extensive research at the John D. Rockefeller Library.  We are pleased to announce our new collection of twenty designs from John Carwitham’s publicaion “Various Kinds of Floor Decorations” .  In 1739 London engraver John Carwitham published twenty-four plates.  These plates showed various designs of floorcloths and other interesting floor decorations.  The designs were of geometric  layouts consisting of squares, diamonds, octagons and hexagons.  They also consisted of two and three dimensional effects.  These designs also showed the technique of marbleizing or other forms of texture.  In today’s style and design these floorcoverings can easily be introduced  into a traditional or contemporary home.   Featured above is one of the twenty designs!  Please give us a call at 757-695-3282 and we can design your custom Carwitham floorcloth!
